Fall Goals: Gratitude & Positivity

Fall goals | gratitude and positivity
To many, fall is like turning over a new leaf. Personally, I find January to be more a time of “change”, but this fall has brought on some new and exciting challenges. It always helps to create goals for yourself amongst the whirl-wind of change to keep you focused. Here are my goals in terms of my personal life, and my blog life:

Personal Life

I’ve posted before about possibly jumping into the Nutrition program at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition. After a whirl-wind week of going back and forth, I decided to do it. I didn’t have a good reason to wait, so I started the program two weeks ago.

To me, this will be one of my biggest challenges in the next couple years. I just changed positions at work and I’ve been warned that I joined a very busy team. A fast-paced workday, along with school two nights a week, hours of readings, tests and assignments, I’m going to be busier than I would typically like. But you know what? I’m going to be learning about something I love.

Isn’t that what matters? Being able to do something that lights a spark in you?

My fall goal is to move through this transition with gratitude and positivity. Remembering that I am lucky to have been given this opportunity, and to enjoy it while I have it. It seems daunting right now, and I really hate the idea of committing to something else for the long-haul, but over the next few months I hope to get settled into a new routine where it all feels like second nature. And I hope that I can keep this perspective throughout the next two years while I’m studying.

Two years will go by faster than I know, and soon enough I will be able to use this passion in a new and exciting way. During this change, my goal is to keep myself positive, pumped up, and excited for the opportunities that lie ahead. I want to be able to say YES more often, and this was one of those opportunities I just had to grab.

Blogging Life

My blog and social media presence has become a large chunk of my life. If I spend all this time in school, along with a full-time job, it’s possible my blog will suffer. I don’t want that to happen, so my goal is to continue juggling all three aspects of my life, while still giving myself down-time to veg and spend time with M. Spending time with him is very important to me, so if anything has to fall first, unfortunately this blog will be it.

BUT! That doesn’t mean it’s going to happen. And I am going to do my best to make sure that it doesn’t. In fact, I am going to continue working on my blog goals of increasing viewership and engagement. Here are just some things I’ve done on my other social media outlets recently to encourage this:

1 | Created a Facebook page for my blog, where I post blog updates as well as interesting articles, recipes and inspiring tid-bits that I find around the interweb. Come follow along! It’ll be like one big happy, healthy family 🙂

2 | I’m also focusing on my Instagram and have seen some growth in the last few months. “Some growth” is all relative; no, I am not a big IGer, but it’s been positive for me! Are we Insta-buddies yet?

3 | I’ve been a bit less active on Twitter these days, but you can still catch me over there sometimes!

Now tell me… do you have any fall goals?

Wow, Kelly! I’m so inspired by you and the goals you have to juggle these 3 different parts of your life. Oh, and that photo of your notebook really makes it real! Great job. Best wishes, and I’ll check back to see how you’re doing.

Thank you Cami! It’s a lot, but as long as I keep on top of it I should be OK! 🙂

Wow, I think it’s so great you doing so many things and committing yourself to them! It’s cool to see someone really going for it and doing what it takes to do what you love. Takes some serious determination. I hope everything works out for you!

It’s the first time I visit your blog. I just looked at some of your older posts and like your blog very much.

I have had a fashion blog for 3 months and you inspired me to work more on my social media platforms. Everything is still so new for me and demands so much time and work.

    Have a great day!

Thanks Danielle! Social media is great to create more interaction, especially getting people engaged in newer blogs. It takes a lot of time to get it all going, though. I totally agree!

Oh, the school is soooo good, it is always good to study something you love. I hated high school and I suffered through university (a lot of useless subjects) but I enjoyed learning about fitness and nutrition and I dedicated my freetime to study and I don’t regret that at all! I always spent my holiday money on additional courses which is funny according to many of my friends. That I think, school is a holiday 😀

That’s awesome! I love the content so far, I can definitely see myself sinking my teeth into additional courses when I’m done. When it’s a passion, it’s not really “work”. Thanks for stopping by, Noemi!

Great goals for your blog—social media sometimes seems like a complete other language to me, but getting on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook is definitely the way to get your content out there.

Social media is a lot of work surprisingly! It’s another language, and each social media platform is different, so it makes it even trickier. But that’s okay! It’s fun to explore it! Thanks for stopping by, Natalie 🙂

These are such great goals. I too struggle with the balance of all things – work, blog and personal life. But, just like seasons, all of those things will go through ebs and flows. And of course, the real people in your life should definitely and always come before a blog. 🙂

For sure, the real people come first! And the balance will always be the struggle. Hope you are able to achieve some semblance of balance this season 🙂 Thanks for the comment, Cori!
